How does London to Brighton conforms to Todorov’s theory
Todorov‘s theory is represented through the storyline of the characters, which follow’s the structure of Todorov’s theory, for instance Kelly lived off her ordinary life as a prostitute but (equilibrium) was disrupted by Derek, who ordered her to scout for a child (disequilibrium). She then changes her mind and decide to help Joanne from Duncan but has committed murder, this is when they planned to escape from London to Brighton (attempt to repair). And finally, Kelly returns to her life on the streets. (new equilibrium), this conforms to the theory because it has demonstrated all stages of the theory.
Todorov’s theory, is also represented through the closing because everything is resolved, for example Stewart, who was chasing after our main characters, finally got his revenge by sacrificing Derek and his sidekick and Kelly/Joanne is finally freed from being chased for their crimes. This is an example of a close ending, which conforms to Todorov’s theory.
